Mortgage and Rent Cover
Protecting your monthly mortgage or rental payments
If you're unable to work due to illness or injury, this plan will pay you money each month equal to your share, or all of your monthly mortgage or rental payment up to £2,000. Mortgage and Rent Cover is available with level cover only.
This means the amount of cover is fixed - it won't change and won't keep up with inflation. If your monthly mortgage or rental payment changes once you've taken out your policy, you should let us know to ensure you have the correct amount of cover. This will keep paying out until your selected claim period ends, either after 12 or 24 months, or until you're well enough to return to work.
Mortgage and Rent Guarantee means we'll pay your full chosen amount of cover throughout the claim if you're unable to work due to illness or injury. This provides you with certainty should you need to claim. You have the flexibility to increase your amount of cover should your rent or mortgage increase for certain reasons (limits apply). You can also choose to have all or some of your claim payments paid directly to your lender, making life a little bit easier for you during a difficult time. No state benefit deductions are made and the Pay My Mortgage feature helps protect you against the means tested impact of Universal Credit based on understanding of current legislation, which may change in the future.
We have access to a wide range of insurers to find the best protection for you and your family.

The importance of protection
Protection can often be overlooked but should always be considered.
It should also be reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your specific needs.
Won't the state look after me?

Unfortunately, government benefits pay a lot less than many people think.
For example
If you were only relying on Employment and Support Allowance (formally known as Incapacity Benefit), the maximum benefit you'd get is just £117.60 a week (if you're aged over 25 and in the support group).
£117.60 might just cover the weekly family shop but what about your mortgage or rent?
